Scone but not forgotten
On the 26th September 2010 Watercress Lane Duck Eggs held a tasting day at the Wroxham Barns scone competition and what a day it turned out to be. With over 90 entrants in the competition we saw a huge amount of visitors and competitors visit our marquee which had kindly been erected by Wroxham Barns.
We had taken along a selection of foods for tasting and also had our resident chef Andy on hand to warm the stomachs of the public, on what was a typical September day, with more of his sumptuous scrambled egg. Smoked salmon and spring onion quiche, Blue mirages, mini cupcakes from Emma at Buns of Fun, and of course the ever popular Portuguese Duck Egg custard tarts all when down well with many people taking recipe cards and eggs to try in their own kitchen.
At three o’clock Gavin Fisher, our sales manager, was whisked off to the scone competition to take part in the judging where he was delighted to find a table with around 20 different fruit scones laid out which he and Jane Miller from Produced in Norfolk where asked to find a winner. With 3 other categories containing similar amounts of entrants it was some sight. An hour later winners and runners up had been identified by the judges and Watercress Lane would like to congratulate them and all the competitors for their efforts.
A wonderful yet wet day was enjoyed by all and with more people informed about the delights and capabilities of Watercress Lane Duck Eggs another successful tasting event was had. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the organisers of the event, Ian Russell and all of the Wroxham Barns team and of course Emma from Buns of Fun.
